The Export Volume of Shrimps from Ecuador to China Exceeded 7,000 Pounds in March

Datetime: 2019-04-19

The importers in China had smaller orders from November to December in 2018. The price of white shrimp soared before the Spring Festival in China, resulting in a large number of orders to factories in Ecuador and booming shipments from January to February. Today, these white shrimps arrived in China one after another with a new historical record of order quantity…

In the first three months of 2019, the total export volume of white shrimps from Ecuador hit a record high. The actual shipments in the first three months were 89,192.404 pounds, 99,644.13 pounds and 117,737.601 pounds with growth rates of 16%, 30% and 40.88% respectively if compared with the same period last year.

The first three largest markets to which Ecuador exports white shrimps are China, European Union and the United States. The majority of shipments from Ecuador to Haphong Port in Vietnam finally end up in China.

Let’s take a look at the shipment quantity of white shrimps from Ecuador to major ports in China and Haphong Port in Vietnam. The shipments in the first three months of 2019 were 62,136.727 pounds, 66,857.17 pounds and 74,484.837 pounds with growth rates of 57%, 53% and 34% respectively. The growth rates exceeded 50% in January and February. The main reason was that the importers in China had smaller orders from November to December in 2018, and the price of white shrimp soared before the Spring Festival in China, resulting in a large number of orders to factories in Ecuador and booming shipments from January to February.

74,484.837 pounds’ shipments of white shrimps delivered in March are now continuously arriving at ports. The shipments have not arrived in China in full. Some shipments are still in transit or at Haphong Port in Vietnam.

The consumption of white shrimps is expected to usher in China during the Labor Day holiday. But the overall consumption trend throughout May will depend on the subsequent reordering volume and market demand.
