Datetime: 2019-04-19

On the morning of April 16, World Seafood Shanghai Work Report Meeting was held in the conference room of Shanghai Fisheries Group Co., Ltd. Xie Feng, President of Shanghai Fisheries Trade Association (SFTA), attached great importance to the future development of World Seafood Shanghai. He showed high confidence and great expectation for the current development and the broad market potential of China’s fisheries. He said that proactive efforts will be made to leverage the role of SFTA and Governing Unit to promote the development of the entire fishery market with the help of the World Seafood Shanghai platform.

When talking about the direction for future development, President Xie confirmed the correctness of the development idea, which is to promote the industry development by bringing together one kind of products. For example, First Salmon Industry Development Summit Forum and Seafood Tasting Session -Pangasius Introduction Campaign 2018 had exerted positive influence on the industry. He hoped that in 2019, the advantages and influence of SFTA will be used to organize more geographical indication (GI) aquatic and marine product promotion activities through the World Seafood Shanghai platform. For example, Shanghai Fisheries Group will employ international fishery resources to hold a new product launch meeting; Shanghai Changxing Hengsha Fishing Port (the only national first-class fishing port in Shanghai) is recommended to organize special promotions of king crabs and coldwater shrimp pandalus borealis during the World Seafood Shanghai. With these activities, more premium water and sea products across the world will find their way to the table of ordinary people. Besides, National Geographical Indication Aquatic and Marine Product Promotion Conference will be organized to polish the business cards of China’s GI aquatic and marine products and bring them to the global market. Meanwhile, it is important to strengthen the organization of various large-scale e-commerce platforms and shopping malls. Under the correct guidance of the SFTA leaders and strong support of the cooperation units, World Seafood Shanghai will fully collaborate with relevant parties to carry out these events, and contribute its own share to the international and regional exchanges and cooperation, so as to promote the healthy and sustainable development of China’s fishery economy.

Last but not least, based on the common vision for long-term cooperation and future development, SFTA and World Seafood Shanghai will continue to utilize respective strategic resources, high-quality channels and core capabilities, and carry out indepth cooperation centered on promoting industry development and interaction. Meanwhile, World Seafood Shanghai will render services in accordance with the various directives and related activities arranged by SFTA. Together, more business opportunities will be created for the development of the industry, and more frontier information presented.

As a global fisheries trade event, World Seafood Shanghai has grown into a premium platform after 13 years’ development, bringing together sellers and buyers in aquatic markets and helping foreign companies to expand Chinese market. Together with the 9th Shanghai International Catering and Ingredients Exhibition, World Seafood Shanghai 2018 gathered 1,500+ enterprises from more than 20 countries and regions from the United States, the Republic of Korea, Australia, Argentina, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Denmark, Canada, Ecuador, Thailand, Oman, Pakistan, Netherlands, Scotland, Indonesia, Vietnam, Venezuela, Mexico, Chile, and China (including Taiwan Region).
